“Geography is not only about the maps, boundaries, or countries. It’s about understanding the complexity of our world, appreciating the diversity of culture that exist across the countries”. Geography is a richly diverse and comprehensive subject that provides us with an understanding of our changing and interconnected world. It helps us understand our Earth as the homeland of humankind and provide insight for wise management decisions about how the planet’s resources should be utilized.
Geography involves the study of physical environments and resources, cultures, economies, societies, people and places. It allows us to identify and appreciate important clues of our universe’s history, including the influence of landforms and climate on land, our surroundings, the rise and fall of civilizations, migration patterns, and much more.
Geography helps us understand basic physical systems that affect everyday life. Geography intersects with other subjects such as Biology and History and can help to gain a better understanding of the bigger picture. It gives us a good idea of why towns and cities were established in certain locations and why some have flourished more than others.
